What inspired you to become a fashion mentor?
My journey as a fashion mentor was kindled by the most stylish figure in my life, my beloved grandmother. Her closet was a treasure trove of fashion inspiration, and I found pure delight in exploring it during my younger days. However, it wasn’t just about the clothes; it was her unwavering emphasis on caring for them that left a lasting impression. Her wisdom instilled in me the art of maintaining and cherishing garments. When I ventured into the world of retail, I initially dipped my toes in the PR and Event department. It didn’t take long for me to realize the immense value of personal shopping for both customers and stores alike. Determined to offer a unique learning experience, I embarked on an educational journey, taking numerous courses. The culmination of this expertise and my hands-on experience in personal shopping led me to create what I believe is the ultimate fashion course.
Can you share a memorable fashion moment from your career?
One particularly vivid memory that stands out in my fashion career took place during the organization of a fashion show at the prestigious NK department store in Stockholm. Behind the scenes, chaos reigned as models hurriedly prepared for the grand event. The backstage area was a whirlwind of activity. Yet, when the show finally commenced, it was pure magic. The seamless execution and flawless presentation made it seem as though the chaos never existed. Witnessing this transformation was both incredible and enjoyable, a testament to the enchanting world of fashion.
What’s your teaching philosophy when it comes to fashion?
My teaching philosophy revolves around nurturing individuality and creativity in fashion. I believe in empowering students to embrace their unique style, understand the fundamental principles of styling, and master the art of self-expression. Through guidance and encouragement, I aim to help students unlock their full potential.
How will students benefit from your participation in the course?
Students will gain direct access to my wealth of knowledge and real-world experience in the fashion industry. I will provide them with insights, techniques, and industry secrets that can’t be found in textbooks. My goal is to ensure that every student is well-equipped to excel as a stylist and make a meaningful mark in the fashion world.
Any fashion advice you’d like to pass on to our readers?
One mantra I hold dear and share with both my clients and students is, “The clothes should fit you; you shouldn’t fit into the clothes”.
It’s a principle I consider pivotal in the fashion world. It’s crucial to understand that manufacturers employ diverse sizing and patterns when creating their clothing lines. Consequently, one size in a specific brand might be entirely different in another. The key is to focus on finding the size that suits your body, not fixating on the number on the tag. If the tag’s size bothers you, don’t hesitate to liberate yourself from it by discreetly cutting it off. It’s your style; make it truly your own.
